It is all because of advancement in these automobiles that help us reach places and rightly so, people aspire to have cars for their convenient transportation and comfort. Some have so much adoration for their cars that they call it their ‘baby’. It is increasing the density of vehicles on the roads and risks of Traffic Collision. The results of even the smallest of accidents are damages to the car. When a car owner gets any impairment in their vehicle, it almost tears them. They have put their hard-earned money to buy their conveyance. Many of you must have witnessed fights for who among both parties were responsible for the damage and how are they paying for the repair. Damages are both in the exterior shape of your automobile and sometimes they can be so big that they don’t just affect the aesthetic but also the functioning of their car. They need to be fixed and they cost a lot. India is a country of much small-scale business and one such business is Car Repair Shop. This business earns well and as the automobiles are increasing the demand is unlikely to go down

Understand the Market

To start any business, you must know how the market works around it. What other car repair shops are available? Do your research about what are the cars that are on-road and what are different brands that learn about. This research will help you understand the market size, strata, variety, and help you build a vision for your car repair shop.  

Increase your expertise

To open a repair shop, you need to have a lot of information about the car and its hardware. You should be an expert. You should have a mechanical degree or ITI Motor Vehicle Mechanic Trade Highlights or similar qualifying courses. Know about the parts and their uses. You’ll need to have local connections and access to resources too. Make sure you know it all because your customers will only be convinced and trust you if they see you know what you are doing.

Decide on services

Even in the car repair business, there are many services available in the market, you have to first decide what are the services you are going to provide. Will, it only be a repair service or you are also going to sell some accessories. Will you only cater to cars or will extend your services to motorcycles too? The business will expand and the list can always increase but decide first what is your introductory range. Know the types of cars that are in your locality, know the skills to repair cars for most popular brands such as Suzuki, Hyundai, Honda, etc.

Decide on size and type of business

The business has a lot of scopes to grow but keeping in mind that your initial investment and capacity to arrange resources, decide the initial setup of your car repair shop. Whether it is going to be a big store or a small kiosk, in a small local market or high-end mall. Decide if you want to keep an offline store or are you ready to invest your time and money by introducing your service for online bookings? 

Have the right distributor

Make sure you have a distributor who can easily make you available which the supply whenever you demand them and have access to the parts and accessories for the old and new cars that are launched in the market. If you want to run a car repair shop, you should know that customers should not go have to wait or postpone to get the repair done just because you did not have the right parts available on that day.

Location and storage space

It is obvious that you will have to rent/ buy a place where you can start your services. You cannot set it up in your house. Keep in mind that the location of your store matters a lot. A market place with high footfall is always in big demand. You can rent a place near an automobile accessory shop so that whenever customers visit the other shops, they are more likely to see your shop too. You can keep it near parking lots or highways too. When you are renting a place, be aware of the competition around. Try to locate yourself when there are lesser automobile accessory shops. 

Also, keep in mind the storage capacity of your store. You must be having heavy and big machinery that is used for the repair work. Make sure you have enough storage available for them. 

Generate funds

This is amongst the first things to do. You are setting up a car repair shop and even though it is a small-scale business, it’ll require a principal investment. Get yourself sponsors who are willing to support a local business and have your back.

Get the Manpower

For your business hire technicians who know the craft of repairing cars with minimum efforts and resources. You’ll need a team of a good managers who can work under pressure and arrange for requirements quickly. Along with that, have in-house staff that will carry out tasks like guarding, billing, loading, shifting, etc. Once you have a store and you desire to build it bigger, have a trusted group of people who will help you on each level as this is not a task that can be handled alone.

Use of technology and e-commerce

People don’t really like to wait and it is possible that during rush hours many of your potential clients might go somewhere else because they have to wait. You can use technology and make appointments according to your schedule. Make sure you have a phone that is always available and have multiple numbers on which appointments can be fixed. 

Advertise Smartly

Social Media is used by almost everyone around the globe. It is almost certain that at least one person in your locality must be using any social media platform. Putting up pages on Facebook and Instagram and asking youth in youth in the locality to share it amongst friends, developing a strong SEO, and investing in marketing offline can bring great audience attraction to your new car repair shop. Putting up ads with discounts and amazing offers are always a plus. Along with online, spending on offline methods to propagate business is necessary. Go old school and hand our pamphlet whenever a customer arrives. Since you have an offline store and most customers will save your number for future reference, you can invest in WhatsApp Business and use its marketing tools to propagate your business. It is convenient to use and digitally provides a personal touch as the medium is one to one messaging which has become one of the best provisions of converting prospects to customers. Remember to greet them nicely and make them feel important.

To open any business, one should be ready to work hard and show a lot of perseverance and determination.
