House Rent Allowance

HRA or House rent allowance given to an SSC CHSL officer varies from location to location. An officer posted in a City with larger demography will attract a better house rental allowance than an officer posted in a small town or a city with less demography.

HRA is 24% for cities with a large population, 16% for the semi-rural or semi-urban areas, and 8% for rural areas.

Transport Allowance

SSC CHSL officers are provided with a Transport allowance to meet up the cost of commuting from their place of residence to their workplace. Currently, Transport allowance is given at a fixed rate of ₹3,600 for people residing and working in metropolitan cities, whereas it is ₹1, 800 for people residing and working in semi-urban and semi-rural areas.

Dearness Allowance

Dearness allowance is provided to meet the costs of living and any adjustments caused in monthly expenditure due to rising or rapid inflation. The amount of Dearness allowance was revised by the union cabinet in the year 2019. DA stands at 17% of the Basic salary, which means that starting DA for Lower division clerks and Junior secretarial assistant is ₹3,400, and for Data entry officers and postal assistants, it is ₹4,420.

Other Special Allowances

Other special allowances, such as the National Pension Scheme ( NPS ), The Central Government Employees Group Insurance Scheme (CGEGIS) Central Government Health Scheme ( CGHS) and the Leave Travel Concession ( LTC),  are also provided to SSC CHSL officers, which randomly increase the SSC CHSL Salary for officers.
