  • Merchant Navy Captain Salary

  • Deck Cadet or Deck Merchant Navy Officer Salary

  • Trainee Cadet

Navigation is one of the most important duties of a trainee cadet. They learn to navigate from a Chief Officer. Apart from navigation, a trainee cadet is also involved in deck maintenance, ground work, maintenance of other life-saving appliances, etc. To become a trainee cadet, you must pass class 12th with a pre-sea nautical diploma.   • Must pass class 10th exam by securing a minimum of 40% marks.
  • Enrol in GP rating course.
  • Must appear for a series of entrance exams and other physical and mental tests. 

This 6-month-long pre-sea course prepares students for engine and deck rating. The minimum age limit is 17 years, and the maximum age limit is 25 years. After completing this course, candidates are eligible for the engine or deck crew position appointment.
