RRB Group D: Probation Period for Recruiters:
In its recent notification, RRB has specified that the probation period will be for two years, during which they will receive a limited salary yet to be notified. During this period, they will be provided training about how to operate in practice. They will be assisted by seniors to explain the challenges faced during the job.

RRB Group D Job Profile:
The job profile of the different posts depends upon the management hierarchy in each area. The Indian Railways Commission predefines its functions and power. They will receive growth and promotions based on their performance in their respective area. Their foremost responsibility is to provide preventive maintenance to the equipment. Regular maintenance includes the safety and security of coaches. The selected candidates are deployed in wagon and carriage workshops. A complete section such as bogie or wheel shop is allocated to the person at the post of Assistant workshop.

Their main duty is to assist the team in constructing bridges made under the scrutiny of the Railway Authority. They also assist in monitoring the deviation of actual output from proposed plans. They check the availability of materials and components in prescribed quality and quantity. Thus, their consistent monitoring enables timely and quality completion of the projects.

Assistant for Carriage and Wagon:
One of the main responsibilities is trip scheduled maintenance. Maintaining the pit line and providing the solutions to Brake Power Certificate is also their responsibility. Maintaining the overhauling immediately and Accident relief train maintenance also falls under their function.

Assistant for Loco Shed:
- Electrical: The employees appointed in this department are employed at TRS sheds, where they are required to monitor their work. TRS sheds are engaged in keeping the maintenance of the assembly units and their overhauling. They also take care of 25KV Electric Locos Maintenance in electric Loco sheds.
- Mechanical: To keep a check on the overhauling of locomotives operating on diesel.

Depot Assistant:
Their major function is to procure components for different workshops such as Mechanical, electrical, signal, and telecom to keep the coaches and wagons up-to-date.

Assistant Track Management Engineer:
Repair and maintenance of the machines with the assistance of higher authorities. It is necessary to ensure the availability of equipment necessary for the smooth functioning of Track machinery.

Assistant at Workshop (also known as works):
They maintain the levels of materials and equipment required for repairing the machinery. They are also responsible for managing the wielding work under the guidance of their respective heads.

Track Maintainer: Grade IV
They are responsible for maintaining the track and submitting weekly reports mentioning the health of the tracks. They must walk along the tracks to check the rack condition, remove any minor discrepancies, and provide tightening of joints and clamps.

Medical Assistant at Hospital:
A person from a medical background can handle this profile very well. Maintaining medical stock levels and providing proper treatments to the patients in case of any medical emergency.

RRB Group D Job Promotion:
The next important aspect of any profile is its growth opportunities. RRB offers several growth opportunities through promotions, thus increasing your perks and allowances. Some points you need to keep in mind while you think of starting your career with Railways are mentioned below:
- Group D employees' promotion to Group C after completing three years of regular service in the Railways.
It takes place only after the employees have cleared the departmental exams. The Board doesn't release any official notification relating to the schedule of such Examination. Thus, the employees must keep track of such examinations independently.
These exams are conducted for 100 marks, in which 85 marks are allocated for written exams, and 15 marks are decided based on service records and official employee behaviour in that particular department.
For getting a promotion to Group C, employees should possess a minimum typing speed of 30 words in a minute and at least 25 words in a minute.
