A trademark is an intellectual property comprising of a recognisable design, sign, or expression which stands for the individuality of the service or product of a particular source from that of others. Trademarks which signify services are generally called service marks.
Trademarks are divided into 45 classes in total, and the manufacture of services and goods is grouped into further classes. Each class has to apply for different registration. Trademark Class 9 consists of scientific, nautical, photographic, surveying, cinematographic, weighing, optical, signalling, measuring, checking, teaching apparatus and instruments, apparatus for switching, conducting, transforming, regulating, accumulating or controlling electricity, apparatus for transmission, recording or reproduction of images or sound, recording discs, magnetic data carriers, compact discs, DVDs and digital media, cash registers, mechanisms for coin-operated apparatus, calculating machines, computers, data processing equipment, computer software, fire extinguishing apparatus.

- Instruments and apparatus for laboratory-oriented scientific research
- Apparatus and instruments for controlling ships, i.e. for measuring and transmitting orders.
