As per the 7th Central Pay Commission, the revised ISRO starting salary of scientists is ₹15,600/- with a grade-pay of ₹6,600. The highest per month salary paid to a scientist has been increased to ₹80,000 with an increase in their grade pay too. The Revised Allowance of ISRO Scientists 

After the implementation of the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission, the allowances for ISRO scientists have also been revised. The revised allowances are provided below.

• Now, the employees are given a 113% dearness allowance per month. 

• The house rent allowance varies according to the city. HRA is provided to employees in the range of 10% to 30% of their basic salary.

• Travel allowance on a similar basis ranges from ₹400 to ₹3,200.

Promotion of an ISRO Scientist

Promotion and career growth of a scientist at the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) are typically based on a combination of factors, including

• Scientists are required to have at least four years of work experience along with at least 3 "Outstanding/A" performance reviews known as Annual Performance Appraisal Reviews at the end of each year.

• If they meet the above criteria, the employee will be called for a technical interview.

• Depending on the results of the interview, the scientist will either be promoted immediately or will be held back for 6 months.

• In case the performance in the interview is unsatisfactory the scientist can be called again for an interview after one year. During that time, it is decided whether a promotion should be granted immediately or after 6 months.

• For the next promotion, another 4 years of work experience are required.

• 4-year working experience is required because some scientists go for higher studies and take education leave for 2 years.

• These 2 years will not count towards work experience. However, the organization may continue to pay salaries for that period.
